President Jimmy Carter, for organizing and operating the first ever “Incarcerated Veterans Assistance Organization(IVAO)” by and for incarcerated veterans.

I’m presenting U.S. Congressman Ron Dellums, a military veteran, with the IVAO Community Support Award for serving as our “Outside Coordinator”. At the same time, I organized veterans to establish and operate an Office of Veteran Affairs approved by the D.C. Department of Corrections with the full support of the Veterans Administration (1978).
